The governor, the environmentalists, et al do not allow us to prepare ahead of time. They do not allow controlled burns or proper undergrowth management so that when a fire does occur, it burns low grassy areas and is easily extinguished.
I live on 5 acres in a high fire area. I cleared some brush two years ago and got a permit from Cal Fire (Our State fire agency) for a controlled burn only to be told by the local Cal Fire station I couldn’t do the burn and risked getting fined!! I argued Sacramento had authorized it and they told me they didn’t care about that and if I did the burn they would respond and extinguish it.
Unless our state decides to allow proper management of the high fire areas this will continue to happen!!
As a former Californian who was raised there. I find it difficult to listen to her complaints. I didn’t hear her taking any responsibility for how they vote and live. The fire and water problems where there when I lived there starting in the 60’s.
